The Great Debate

Okay, so not really a great debate, but one that matters...to a select group of people. Which sewing show is the best. Stop the presses and pay attention to this one due to it's vast importance :o) and the finalists are....

v.
And the winner is....(drum roll) Nancy Zeeman form 'Sewing with Nancy". There is a reason that this show has been on for 25 years. I've been watching both shows every week for a few months now and I've found that Nancy is good for the beginner and advanced quilter alike not to mention her use of simple and tradition methods mixed with current trends, and even (*gasp) computers/photoshop. Here camera angles and close-ups are better AND she has doesn't have any awkward talking transitions since it's only her.

Although Fons & Porter make beautiful quilts and obviously have an extensive knowledge of the craft, their show seemed like it was aimed a a very specific audience. I struggled to see close-ups of just how they were doing their applique and piecing things. The dialog between them seemed distracting for me since it was at time, awkward.

I'm proud to say that I'm 'going with Nancy', and after months of watching, learning, and contemplating, I'm ready to start my very first serious quilt with an idea taken from Nancy's recent segments entitled, "Already Cut and Ready to Quilt". Normally I'd say, 'wish me luck', but I feel confident that it will be a success based on the explanation and teaching style that Nancy has. I can't promise that it'll be finished quickly, at least not in it's entirety, but it is the next project in line.

Jelly rolls are on sale at my JoAnn's for $6.99 so I did the only sensible thing and bought four and some matching quarter bundles. Fun times ahead!

FYI: S.W.N. is on 6:30am saturday mornings on my local PBS station.

I have to agree, Nancy really does it best, and I always end up learning more when I watch her show.
