I bought the $1 pack of beans called '16 bean soup mix'. It's actually was not a soup mix at all, but more of a 16 dried bean variety pack. No matter what it was called, it made a very delicious bean soup. Here is the recipe. 1 bag '16 bean soup mix' | Rinse beans and put in hot water on stove. When water reaches a boil leave it for 2 minutes and then remove from heat, cover and let sit one hour. Drain beans. Saute onions, celery, carrots until soft. Add salts, pepper, cumin and pour in chicken stock and add beans. Cook on low for 1 1/2 hrs or until beans are done. |
I ended up putting in about 1/2 tsp of ground cumin and 1 tsp of garlic salt.
It was cheap, healthy AND delicious. Enjoy!
